Life provides an abundance of opportunities to explore who you are and establish who you want to be. It is not always simple or easy, but every opportunity gives you a chance to learn and grow, discovering who you are along the way. My personal journey began with a simple desire to help people and ended up winding through the myriad paths of the healthcare field that has led me here.
As a personal trainer, I understand that every client is unique, as are the obstacles they face. I work with a diverse population, from active adults to cancer survivors to youth athletes. By understanding individual situations, injury mechanics and programming components, I help people improve their health, strength, and function.
Training these clients has left me looking to widen my knowledge of rehabilitation. I began shadowing physical therapists at Froedtert and the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin last summer. Working with them showed me that while I had years of experience, I had only scratched the surface of rehabilitation. There is a great deal more to soak in from outpatient sports medicine to in-patient physical therapy. This is why I have chosen to begin attending Concordia University in Summer 2020 to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
I am looking forward to continuing to work with the amazing AddeoFit community as I learn and grow throughout the 3-year program!
Since returning to AddeoFit in September, I have frequently been asked questions on nutrition: “What should I eat before a workout? What are your thoughts on the keto diet? What are healthy snacks to make for my kids?”. Nutrition is paramount to a healthy lifestyle, but developing good lifelong dietary habits is not easy, especially when there is an abundance of conflicting information in social media and advertising.
While I took several nutrition courses as part of my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, I wanted to dive deeper to be a better resource for my clients. I spent the last three months completing the Fitness Nutrition Specialist program through the American Council of Exercise. I am excited to begin providing one-on-one nutrition coaching, regular blog posts, monthly education sessions, and individual body composition assessments.
Body composition assessments are a great way to obtain a baseline measurement of your fitness level and track your success. I will work with you to devise a precise plan for your specific goals.
